On late Thursday evening, Air Belgium confirmed that it continues to operate, after many rumors in the recent days suggested that the Belgian start-up airline may be about to shut down.

However, it still ended its Charleroi to Hong Kong route, the carrier’s first and only scheduled flight, earlier this month.

According to Belgian media, the airline says its shareholders acknowledged this action and see no reason to jeopardise or even shut down its business.

Air Belgium will continue to use its fleet of four Airbus A340-300 aircraft to operate charter/wet-lease flights for other airlines, such as British Airways.
